Lingual Braces in Atlanta, GA
If you want to make your braces disappear, then consider lingual braces. Lingual braces, also known as Incognito™ braces, hide the brackets on the inside of your teeth so nobody can tell that you are wearing braces. Located in the Atlanta area, iClear Orthodontics, led by board-certified orthodontists Dr. Ruchir Patel and Dr. Kal Thakkar, offers lingual braces to patients in their Alpharetta, Roswell, and Alpharetta offices. Below you will find some information to help you determine whether lingual braces can work magic on your teeth.
What Are Incognito™ Braces?
Incognito™ lingual braces, also known as hidden braces, attach to the back of your teeth, by your tongue and palate, instead of to the front of your teeth. Like conventional braces, Incognito™ braces gently push the teeth into position, solving spacing, crowding and bite problems. Incognito™ hidden braces work as well as metal braces and are as safe to use on both teens and adults.
How Are Incognito™ Lingual Braces Made?
Incognito™ braces are designed specifically for each individual patient. If you choose Incognito™ lingual braces, Dr. Patel and Dr. Thakkar will take impressions of your teeth and send the impressions to 3M’s dental laboratory. The process of taking the impressions is painless. The lab will use the impressions to create personalized brackets. The process takes approximately six weeks. Once iClear Orthodontics receives your brackets, Dr. Patel or Dr. Thakkar will bond the braces to the backs of your teeth and connect them with special wires.
Can Anyone Wear Incognito™ Lingual Braces?
Teens over the age of 13 and adults can wear Incognito™ braces. Because the braces are close to the tongue, it can take some practice to speak clearly and enunciate words. Within a short period of time, patients get used to the feel of the braces and talking goes back to normal. Incognito™ braces are usually preferred by:
- Professional adults
- People who want to hide their braces
- Teens and adults who are involved in contact sports
- Musicians who play instruments that put pressure on the lips and mouth
What Conditions Are Typically Treated Using Incognito™ Lingual Braces?
Incognito™ hidden braces can correct the same orthodontic issues that metal braces can correct including:
How Long Does Treatment Typically Take With Lingual Braces?
Like braces that attach to the front of your teeth, treatment time for lingual braces differs for each individual. Treatment typically takes anywhere from 18 to 36 months, but may be shorter or longer depending upon how much work is required.
Why Should I Choose Incognito™ Lingual Braces?
Whether you are going out on your first date or are closing a deal, you want to feel confident. Most adult and teen patients select Incognito™ braces because lingual braces straighten teeth without being visible. The end benefit is the same as it would be with metal braces, but patients do not feel as self-conscious as they would if they were wearing metal braces.
Would I Make A Good Candidate For Incognito™ Braces?
Incognito™ hidden braces work best on people with average sized teeth. Attaching brackets to the back of very small teeth is difficult, which is why lingual braces are recommended for teenagers and adults and not for children. A patient’s bite also helps determine whether lingual braces would be effective. If your teeth do not overlap excessively or put excessive force on the area where brackets would be placed, you may be a candidate. The best way to know for sure whether Incognito™ braces are a good choice for you or for a family member is to consult with Dr. Patel and Dr. Thakkar.
How Much Do Lingual (Incognito™) Braces Cost in Atlanta, GA?
Because Incognito™ lingual braces are custom made, they tend to be more expensive than regular metal braces. The exact cost will vary based on the amount and type of work that needs to be done to straighten your teeth and bite.
Dental insurance sometimes covers a portion or the full cost of lingual braces, so it is important to check your policy’s coverage. If you have Flexible Spending Account dollars available through your employer, your pre-tax dollars can be applied to the cost of lingual braces.
To give all patients access to quality orthodontic treatment, iClear Orthodontics offers many payment plans to help make lingual braces more affordable. iClear Orthodontics offers interest-free in-house financing which divides the total cost of treatment into reasonable monthly payments for the duration of your treatment.
Options also exist to extend payments beyond your treatment period. In addition to traditional credit cards, iClear Orthodontics accepts CareCredit® cards that extend financing up to 60 months with a reduced APR and fixed monthly payments.
Customizable OrthoFi is available to design a flexible payment plan. With OrthoFi, you are able to select the down payment and ongoing monthly payment amounts.
